The most popular surfing location is Steamer Point at Highcliffe that can work well in any swell direction. Avon Beach at Mudeford only works moderately well in certain swell conditions

The beaches outside of Poole Harbour entrance only work moderately well in south easterly swell conditions. The best solution is head east to Bournemouth beaches which are more exposed to surf.

You can launch a windsurfer anywhere that you have public access to the waters edge. The most popular locations for sea sailing are Steamer Point at Highcliffe and Avon Beach at Mudeford,  For flat water sailing in Chjristchurch Harbour launch from Mudeford Quay. All 3 locations have good car parks near the water.

Good launching places near to public car parks include the first car park as you come off the Sandbanks ferry and Knoll Beach National Trust car park (be aware that both of these locations have offshore winds in the prevailing South Westerly winds) and the seafront at Swanage
